Collection development is the process by which library faculty identify the subject areas for which print materials/data are to be collected, the depth and breadth of the subject areas to be collected, and the formats of the materials/data to be collected, all within budget, availability, and compatibility constraints. Library bibliographers work with subject department liaisons to prepare orders of library materials, to disseminate information about the library that would be of interest to department faculty members, and to assist department faculty in any other way to make the best use of the library and its resources.
