My Dear Sister
I recd your / letter of Apl. 1st yesterday, it was 16 / days on the road. I was glad / to hear from you. I am / well & all the company are in / very good health. The weather / here is still very pleasant. / I suppose you have had / several letters from me since / the one you answered / for me. I have had / several letters from Mother / since she went to Freeport. / She seems to be a great deal / better since she has got to / Freeport. Walter Williams sent / a secesh flag home the other /
day. If it gets to Curllsville I / suppose it will raise a big / excitement there. I am glad / that our company sends home / the first secesh flag to Clarion / County. I had a letter / from Tom Gales yesterday.
Remember me to all the folks / who make mention of my / cognomen. And Remember me / particularly to Kate Myers tell / her John & Will are well. / Remember me to Ben Huey. / Tell the children that I often think / about them. And tell Liddy that / she must grow very fast and be / a great big girl when the war is / over. I must stop writing & / go out on drill. Hoping / that this will find you all well & / that we may be permitted to see each other / again soon.
I am affectionately
